Life at Brook Infant School and Nursery

Life at Brook Infant School and Nursery is fun and filled with love, laughter and learning. We believe that our school is a special place for our children, families and staff. We provide a creative and purposeful curriculum that draws on children’s interests, provides them with key skills for life-long learning and enables them to become effective future citizens in this ever evolving 21st century.

Children learn through our exciting and stimulating indoor and outdoor environments. They have access to a wide range of resources that allow them to develop skills such as problem solving, collaborative work, challenge and resilience.

We are delighted to announce at our latest OFSTED inspection in June 2023, we were graded as a good school.  We are extremely proud of this. Please look in our 'parents' section to read our report!

About Us

We are a two-form Infant School with a private nursery taking children from aged two, right in the heart of Maidenbower.

We have places in school for 180 children and the nursery has capacity for up to 56 children. The school is in a modern building that opened in 1999.

Our Breakfast and After School Club provides care before and after school for children from Nursery through to Year six.

Our School Grounds

We are lucky to have a great space both inside and out.   The Nursery has its own entrance, kitchen, two activity areas and a lovely large outside environment.   Our Foundation Stage comprises of a Nursery and two Reception classes. Reception has two classrooms, a shared area and an outside classroom, which encompasses a large covered area.   Our Year One has two classrooms and a dedicated outdoor classroom, plus easy access to our extensive outside learning environment.   Our Year Two has two classrooms and a dedicated outdoor classroom, plus easy access to our extensive outside learning environment.   Our hall is used for assemblies, PE, lunches and wraparound care.   We have amazing grounds. There is a large play area at the front of the school. At the back of the school, we have a large playing field, a nature area, a playground, an activity trail, as well as a pagoda and climbing frame!    As a School and Nursery we have five core values that underpin all of our work.

School Council

We have an active School Council.  We firmly believe that our little people make decisions about their learning environment.  Each class has two school councillors who meet regularly. Recently they have supported us with the development of our new curriculum and approach to learning.  The School Council helps us work towards making sure that Brook Infant School and Nursery is a happy, safe and inclusive place to learn.

Eco Warriors

We have Eco Warriors who help us all to protect our environment by keeping to the following motto - ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’.

Woodland Wonders

We have weekly Woodland Wonder Sessions and all children get time to work in the woodland attached to our school grounds with a trained ‘Outdoor’ teacher. These sessions are always fun as well, as a brilliant learning experience and our children always thoroughly enjoy their time in the woods. The sessions are run throughout the year and are open to all children from Nursery to Year Two.
